VIDEO REVIEW BY JOHN CURNOW, 2019

Matt reviews his 550 CC + Hydrofoils, 2019.

Matt – the new owner of the WR550CC+H, 2018. Wow Wow Wow! I have had over 15 mono-hull boats over the past 25 years and this will be my last. I have always gone for name brand top-performers and it was a bit of a risk for me to consider a Waverider, as I had not heard of them prior. Only by chance, I was down at the ramp when Pat arrived with the 550 Waverider + Hydrofoil, and I was intrigued by its good looks and seaworthy appearance. I watched it perform in the surf, and I put it…

Fish and Boat article says Waverider 450 is a “Big Wave Tinny.”

When I saw the weather report of 25-30 knots and 2m swells, I contacted Pat at Waverider Boats and said let’s postpone until another day. He replied, “The only thing that can stop us is fear. Fear not!” With a comment like that, what could I do but make my way to Mooloolaba to try it out? Waverider Boats are a Nambour based company, headed by Pat Jones, who is in joint-partnership with AusShipsPty Ltd in Brisbane, for all the Waverider fabrication and fit out. AusShips build boats for Qld Police & the LNG catamaran ferries in Gladstone to name…

Waverider 610 centre console

FMM reviews the 3rd prototype: Waverider 610CC, 2014.

March 2014: “Previously, I reviewed the Waverider 490 powered by a 40hp Titan outboard. In the seas off Mooloolaba the Waverider’s radical hull – with its remarkable similarity to the successful features of the very well received Kapten Boat Collar – proved itself as a soft riding straight tracking craft with enormous potential. Waverider Boats, with Pat Jones at the helm, have advanced to the point where overall finish is of a high standard throughout, the interior layout suited to a wide application of fishing pursuits and there’s a choice of several models available for buyers. It’s all about the…

Wayne Kampe says Waverider 550CC is a game changer, 2017.

Fishing Monthly review, Dec 2017. “Boats are a big part of my life; I love them and love the things I can do with them. I enjoy spending time in other people’s boats as well, which means that every so often I have the privilege of spending time in something quite out of the ordinary, which is exactly what the plate alloy Waverider 550 is! The Waverider’s hull configuration is a radical departure from the norm (yet absolutely proven) and combines high levels of performance and stability with a highly detailed finish and very high levels of sea keeping capability.…

Waverider review from mick

Mick reviews his Waverider 550CC, 2017.

Well here is a quick review of the waverider 550 centre console I’ve recently purchased. First of all let me say the build quality is very good as is the attention to detail. My missus and I decided to take the waverider out for her first run the other day to set up bowmount electric test performance fuel economy etc. As for all weather forecasts, this one was a little out the wind against the tide provided some great little wave action up to 1 metre on the way out to the fishing grounds. As we took on the journey,…

BEN REVIEWS HIS 610 WAVERIDER + HYDROFOILS (prototype), 2019

Performance – we have been very happy with how it handles rough weather including the trip across to Fraser against the wind and swell. It is a very dry ride which is great with the kids. The stability is fantastic when we take the boat onto the dam for some tubing, so it gets a fair bit of a run on the dams pulling kids in tubes. The boat gets used mainly for family day trips either from Tin Can up the inside of Fraser or from Hervey Bay (Gattakers -> Fraser) – which is where the whale photos are…

Fishing Monthly reviews Waverider prototype, Feb 2013

FM magazine’s review of the first Waverider prototype: “The Kapten Waverider 490 is a highly seaworthy alloy craft that has a unique internal side flotation and a somewhat radical design. Not surprising that it is the newest product from the innovative Boat Collar (a bow to stern floatation product) by inventor Pat Jones. The reviewed Kapten Waverider 490 was powered by a Chinese manufactured 40hp Titan outboard. Sea trials were carried out in the ocean and although the craft featured was essentially a prototype, there’s little doubt that Pat and his team have come up with a very promising design.…
