HOW WAVERIDER BOATS MAXIMISE HYDRODYNAMIC LIFT
Pat Jones, owner & designer of Waverider Boats, explains how his past experiences & failures with hydrofoils on trailer boats, starting back in the 1980s, inspired him to design the award winning Kapten Boat Collar product, which lead to the Waverider Boats.
PART 1.
OPTIONAL SUBMERGED HYDROFOILS
Available as an optional extra with new orders - the Submerged Hydrofoil is used in rough conditions to provide an even smoother ride and give even greater control and handling. Fully retractable while fishing and for easy trailering.
Waverider boats are the 1st (& currently only) boat company in Australia to provide a Hydrofoil on trailer boats.
Note* - Hydrofoils cannot be added post-build, and cannot be added to any other boat - only viable with Waverider hull shape. See Hydrofoil &/or Features pages for more info.
PART 2.
PAT JONES'S HYDROFOIL BOAT IN 1980s - where it began
After some redefining research and development with hydrofoils, Pat Jones tested his theory on the 'worst boat' for offshore conditions - a flat bottom barge. The results were amazing, and proved that a hydrofoil drastically improves ride comfort, control and handling.
In the 80s, the Ultrafoil boat was featured on Chris Conroys 'World of Boats', and the episode segment is featured below.
